None of the above makes you a big club.

Wednesday have a higher average attendance so far this season and overall through their history have been better supported.
I doubt you have that much more money than them.

Wednesday have a higher average attendance so far this season and overall through their history have been better supported. I doubt you have that much more money than them. It's quite hard to quantify what makes one club bigger than another. Things like number of trophies won, attendances, size of ground all help shape our perceptions of a club's size. I would say that to the non partisan observer, Wednesday are seen as the bigger club. And that view has probably been influenced by the above factors. But, apart from Wednesday's league cup win in 1991, neither Sheffield club has won anything this side of the second world war! Wednesday's stadium is bigger and their overall league attendances since the war are a little over 4,000 more than our's. But, over the last two seasons, something has occurred that has not occurred this side of the war. For two consecutive seasons we have averaged higher attendances than them whilst being in the same division. We have managed to get a higher season's average in the same division on one previous occasion (1970-1), but never twice running. With regard to this season's attendances, at the moment their average is being held up by the 30,000 they had on the opening day against Barnsley. I also expect them to register two or three more 30,000 plus attendances. But they will probably also get some in the upper teens as well. I expect ours to fluctuate far less, being mainly in the 23-26,000 area and probably coming out around the 25,000ish mark again. But to be honest, the 'who is bigger?' debate with any club is meaningless. Whether you support Forest Green Rovers or Manchester United, the club that you support is the biggest club in your life. And that's all that matters.
