Watford have snapped up Arsenal youngster Henri Lansbury on loan. The highly-rated midfielder has agreed a six-month loan deal with the Hornets. Lansbury is highly-regarded at Arsenal and has made four appearances in the first-team, all as a substitute. The 18-year-old enjoyed a successful loan spell at Scunthorpe last season and impressed during his time at Glanford Park. Lansbury, who is the second loan signing of the week for Watford following the arrival of Tom Cleverley from Manchester United, is set to go straight into the squad for this weekend's game with Blackpool. Sounds promising for you Hornets

It does They are both promising young players. With the sale of our player of the season for the last two years - Tommy Smith to Reading pretty much done, you'd think they will take on more responsibility now too.. both players are highly rated by their managers, play central positions and they both like to attack. They are only short term replacements though, as they're on 4 month long loan deals (Cleverely has recently spoken about his hopes of scoring 20 goals for us, which would intimate he wouldn't mind extending the deal). Loan deals are all well and good, they serve their purpose. If they come off - then it's fantastic - both parties benefit, the player improves his game and can return back to his parent club with an improved possibility of getting first team action, but it can be tough sometimes in finding the right balance. Both their managers have said they can play for us in the cups though, which is cool. Not 100% sure - but I think Smith was involved in all of our goals scored so far... we will suffer from him leaving, but we needed the money and the deal offered made economical sense. We've saved a shed load of wages now so hopefully we can get some replacements in, who will come in though I have no idea!

He was very good today. The young midfield was superb , very fluid passing it around and creating chances. Deserved a win but lost it late on with a free gift of a header. Cleverly was immense again. Top drawer loan signing. Hodson just 17 was solid at right back. And with our academy thumping Newcastle Academy 5-0 we really do have some superb prospects. Just hope we keep them all and we will be going places. This has to be the best set of kids ever at the club. One thing to thank Aidy for though I did write to the club about it a decade ago.
