I wonder how this'll affect the team psychologically? To suddenly have lost after 3 years unbeaten, having won their last 15, must be a bit of a mental hit.
Just a flash in the pan, or is it time to return to being perennial under-achievers? They're still gonna be highly-rated for the World Cup, I'd expect, but that invincible aura's been shattered, and the blueprint to beat them's just been laid out clearly for all to see. Will be interesting to see their next qualifying matches, though that's September, which is a long time to sort themselves out - or to brood on it...

fluke As Napoleon said, "I'd rather have a lucky general than a brilliant one." The US outplayed them pretty convincingly on the night; that's all there is to it. Altidore's probably gonna have attracted some attention though, with that performance - 19 years old, I think, and his strength and awareness is really impressive. Just look at how easily he fends off Capdevila for the first goal! news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/8117998.stm

napoleon is overrated. he tried to march from egypt back to france and attack russia just before winter ffs! His problem was that he had brilliant generals, not lucky ones ;D (That, and he didn't have 1st Viscount Horatio Nelson on his side )
