Birmingham are reported to be lining up a £6million double swoop for Derby County duo Kris Commons and Giles Barnes. Blues boss Alex McLeish is stepping up his search for new players after winning promotion to the Premiership and according to reports, the Rams duo are on it.
The Scot will have to be shrewd with his transfer budget and £4million of it could go on Commons, while Barnes, who has been on loan at Fulham, could cost in the region of £2million.
Wigan are also being linked with Commons, although City will hope the fact that former Derby Academy Manager Terry Westley is now at St Andrews, will help.

For £6 Million, I would say bye bye to them both tbh. Could get all our targets plus one or two more and still have a few million left over.

£6 million would be hard to turn down - just think of the lower league, £400K players we could sign with that! ;D
£5 million for Commons and £1 million for barnes is too good to turn down. They both cost us nowt!

They both cost us nowt! I agree, Barnes just thinks he's bigger than the club and his contract runs out next year so might as well cash in. Commons is obviously one of our best players but if I'm being honest, he does frustrate me sometimes with his ability to try the most difficult shot when a simple ball is on. He can be brilliant and other days he can just be simply average, if he went I feel we have enough quality in the areas he would be anyway. Porter upfront looked like he could be a bargain signing for Clough, scoring some good goals before getting injured. Also Davies definatly has the ability to play left wing where I think he is actually better than Commons, fingers crossed he doesn't get injured though.
