I know it's generally farcical, but I'll probably still watch it tomorrow. Anyone else? As always, I sincerely doubt we'll win, but with 50% of a country's vote now being decided by jury, we maybe have a marginally better chance. Our song's dull despite the tweaks it's been given, in honesty, but Jade's voice is superb, which may win some extra points. Rumour is that Andrew Lloyd Webber will be on the piano at the live performance too, which could be worth a few more votes - he's much-loved in Europe. The balance between vocal and music volume is very good too; some groups have really been let down by that in the past. The stage show and choreography could do with some work, if the rehearsal is any sign (almost every other country uses at least a little pyrotechnics in theirs, apparently), but we're 23rd of 25 in the performance order, so at least we'll be fresh in the mind when it comes to voting! All that said, I can still see me on here on Sunday bitching about what a joke it is, tactical voting etc

It really won't be the same I'm gonna give Graham Norton a chance, but he's gonna be damned if he tries to use Wogan's style, and damned if he does it too differently. Not a task I envy (Well, aside from the wage packet involved )

Fully expecting it, as before. I'm hoping we can pick up enough of the "leftover" points to put in a decent performance (which, based on the last few years, is "not in the bottom three" )

I've often thought the same - not like we don't have any knocking around

I just wish they would end the farrago. The only decent music is in the opening titles courtesy of Monsieur Charpentier.

From BBC News:
So expect some predictable voting none-the-less, but hopefully some of the better music will stand a chance.
If the 'experts' are old/upper-class enough, we may be in with a chance - our entry's far from poptastic crap, after all! ;D

Since when did everyone take Eurovision seriously?! Ah well. I'll just enjoy Germany's trousers. That's the closest I get to tin foil madness.

Ireland got voted out in the semis again. Can't believe Norway ran away with it like that. I could see the song winning (it was folky-catchy), but it doesn't deserve to have the best ever points total record. Just shows how weak the field was this year; against Lordi's entry, it would've been demolished. Well done to Jade, though - fifth place! Yet to check it, but probably a better points total than the last 5-6 years combined! The political voting was quite pleasingly neutralised for the most part too. Obviously, it could only do so much (Cyprus not giving 12pts to Greece would cause a small black hole), but it (apparently) was about the music this year - there's no accounting for taste with Europe, though! (Which probably explains how David Hasselhoff built a pop career in Germany )
