I know there aren't any Tranmere fans on here but I was at the Tranmere vs Yeovil game today as 'press' - coz I'm not a loyal enough Leeds fan to have gotten to the Monkey Hangers game
Anyway. To say Tranmere are punching above their weight in this league with their lofty position off the back off a cheap squad and crap fans, well you'd think that pushing for a play off place and being able to get in for a fiver would mean a sell out. - Give or take the empty away end.
It wasn't even that it didn't sell out, it was just pathetic. The only time you could even hear the fans was for about 10secs when they scored and the loudest cheer was when the players came out for their lap of honour. I was way up in the gantry at the top of the stand and all I could hear were the players ON THE PITCH and the 130 or so away fans. Credit to them as they out-sung the home fans, not that it was difficult.
Pathetic effort, worse than Peterboro were at their place when we were in town. Even the bandwagon jumpers can't be bothered!!
Digressing a touch, it was cool being press for the day. Not that we got anything good off the club, like any food or drink.. I met Ian Moore, had to shake his hand coz he's a ledge. Met Ronnie Moore who seemed shocked to see a female member of the press and Terry Skiverton. Skivo's lovely, really down to earth and pretty funny too. Also met John Obika (on loan from Spuds) who scored today, he's pretty damn cool that man, so laid back he's practically horizontal!
Oh and the programme added a few laughs as well, Leeds were their cup final and ER is apparently decaying. Suffice to say he was trying to divert attention from the fact they lost, badly. Loser.
