Mate - fact of the matter is that our makeshift back 4 were shocking! We created as much as you over the 90 mins, more so in the 2nd half when Bannan came on.
Could quite easily have nicked a point and i do think 4-2 was harsh on us.
I agree that 4-2 was a tad harsh. The match was in the balance until the final goal in the 95th minute and was definately not good for my ageing heart! A very exciting and entertaining game . One that the neutrals would have really enjoyed, but enough to give anyone supporting either side a coronary.
It was one of those games where you could just about make an argument in favour of a draw, a Blades win or a Derby win. It was that kind of match. But in the end we took more of our chances and defended a little less badly than Derby and so just about deserved the win.
We went 2-0 up almost without breaking sweat. Two attempts on goal and two goals scored. And at that stage, whilst we were hardly dominant, Derby did look to be there for the taking, not withstanding that there had been one or two glimpses of a goal threat from them. But you really felt that another goal could signal a proper thrashing.
However, in the second half I was very imprerssed with Derby's forward movement and passing. The ball was swept forward with real purpose and accuracy. And Derby stretched the play wide on both flanks. There was a spell in the middle section of the second half where Derby were dictating the pace of the game. From our point of view it was crying out for us to slow the game down and break up the play. But instead, we joined in with Derby and played the game at break-kneck speed.
At 3-1 I thought we might for once see out the game reasonably comfortably, but that thought was quickly dispelled when Derby scored their second. The last 20 minutes were as nerve jangling as any that I've seen for a while and there were chances at both ends as the play literally swept from one end of the pich to the other.
The final goal by Beattie (How on earth did Gary Sinclair think it was Howard?!) did give the score a lop sided appearance. 5-4 or even 6-5 might have been a better representation of the play.
But for one of the few times this season I can say that I came out of Bramall Lane having seen a thoroughly (too thoroughly) entertaining game of football, and it has to be said that both sides contributed to that.
