news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/7861363.stmcontent-uk.cricinfo.com/england/content/current/story/388423.htmlI'm sure there are many people on this board ie Pete , Han who love listening to TMS. Its a warm cosy atmosphere ,full of gentle humour and as comfortable as an old slipper. The Bearded Wonder was just that for statistics and integral for all the twenty odd years I've listened in on LW and now digital, inc. making his own mini scorers box for the commentators at one time. Shock to me just clicking on the BBC Sport website as he was hale and hearty on the last your to India. Its like losing a friend. RIP .Millions of listeners from the Caribbean to the Antipodes and the subcontinent will feel like they have lost a companion.

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/7861928.stmThose wonderful tones again in a very brief retrospective with Blowers poping up. I hope that the BBC have the decency to have an obituary programme at the very least. And I hope the ECB organise something for this summer's Ashes series, even a small bust in the Pavilion or bursary named after him for young cricketers. Three wonderful commentators gone in a couple of weeks, Vine, Gutteridge and now Bearders.

And I hope the ECB organise something for this summer's Ashes series, even a small bust in the Pavilion or bursary named after him for young cricketers. That'd probably be the most fitting way to pay tribute to him. He was never a grand 'pompous' man, and he never sought credit for what he did, so a simple memorial like a bust would probably be the best thing. As for the bursary idea; frankly, I can see him sitting up there wondering why they haven't gotten round to it already! ;D
