Despite the result, I'm incredibly proud of the boys tonight. They put in a great effort and did the 6000+ of us travelling fans proud.
I went to Palace last week as well, and I over heard that we had 14 coaches, just from Gold Members (no. Not the Austin Powers one Mort.) We had 24 official club coaches today, but add in other coaches from different areas, overall, we must've had about 30.
Here are some pictures outside and inside the ground:
It was an incredibly long walk from the buses, through many side streets and other places. Somehow, we managed to find the ground. Next to find where we were sitting, which took another 10 minutes.
The ground itself. It was a complete labyrinth inside, and the Chelsea tickets didn't have which block you were in printed on, you had to rely on seat numbers.
Some of the Blue Army.
The two teams line up for the routine hand shake. Pim kept his place from last week, but Dan Harding was dropped to accomodate David Wright. Both had decent games, in my opinion.
Half time after Ballack had given Chelsea the lead, but an Alex Bruce equaliser gave us belief. The celebrations for Bruce's goal were immense, from both the players and the fans.
McAuley and Bruce before the second half.
The final whistle. Two class free kicks were the difference (although Drogba and Anelka were booed because at the time we thought they'd both done a nice bit of play acting), but Haynes had two good opportunities, and Stead had one late on to cause a few nerves.
Either way, a great day. Frank Lampard didn't appreciate our lovely songs (I liked the one about how many men went to lift Frank Lampard...) Richard Wright was on top form, and our defence had a decent game.
We played well after we'd conceded the first goal, and deserved our equaliser. But the second half we came out, weathered an early storm but soon were tired. No doubt we kept trying though. I believe I saw a rarity in Lisbie actually making a run today.
Haynes did run, but he didn't go in for tackles. Miller was average. Garvan was good, Walters was alright. He and Norris played well first half. Counago was alright first half, then disappeared in the second.
My throat's sore, my legs hurt and I think I may fall asleep any time soon, but seriously proud to be a Tractor Girl.
