army.mod.uk/10758.aspx?rating=2A silence was held before the game yesterday and most respectfully observed. Puts the crummy matter of football into real perspective. Tom was an ex Fullerian (Watford Grammar) .He was four years below me so only known in passing. But a grievous loss in any case. God know why they are out there. His name will be added to the book of remembrance at the school. But what comfort is there in that for his parents and friends and fiancee. RIP . What candles may be held to speed them all? Not in the hands of boys, but in their eyes Shall shine the holy glimmers of goodbyes. The pallor of girls' brows shall be their pall; Their flowers the tenderness of patient minds, And each slow dusk a drawing-down of blinds. Wilfrid Owen 'Anthem For Doomed Youth'.
