Uruguay 3-2 Brazil Match Report here. No Urretaviscaya, and they still beat Brazil. Four games unbeaten and team of the tourny so far. When you compare the population of Argentina & Brazil to that of Uruguay - they really do compete well. A delight to watch so far in this years comp.

That referee Prudente makes Atwell look competent. So biased towards the Brazilians it was untrue. A joke of a penalty as Ray Hudson commentated and a perfectly good goal for Argentina disallowed. Argentina do look sketchy at the back. Pehaps Sauro of Boca should have been called up ? Zuculini was outstanding again. Typical dirty play from the Brazilians double hacking him down. Who gets the red card ? Zuculini and Patric who was not responsible. The referee ruined the game in what were art5ocious conditions and has not helped with Zuculini key for the remaining three games. I'm sure we will qualify for Egypt and with Di Santo, Piatti,Sauro, Musacchio back show better. South American referees are appalling. I really dislike Brazil even more.

2-1 defeat against Uruguay means Argentina must win their last two games against Columbia and Venuzuela to qualify and defend their title in Egypt. They should be able to and with reinforcements over the summer have a shot to retain it. The decision to leave Sauro out looks a big mistake from Batista. Is it the coaching thats deficient v-v Tocalli or the group themselves ? It was a weaker age group than recent groups but the good news for Argentina is that the u17 age group is one of the strongest ever produced in two decades. Group Standing: Team Games Goals Pts. Brazil champions for the second successive tournament!
After Paraguay and Uruguays draw last night - coupled with Brazil's win v Colombia earlier in the day, it was impossible for them to be caught (the winner is whoever is top of the group, no knockouts).
These tournaments are never really about the winners, more really about the promising talent that emerges. Still some games left to play, and with Argentina still bottom and Uruguay looking very good - these last games to qualify for the youth World Cup should be hard fought.

Argentina left it late again to tie the group match with Venuzuela three minutes into injury time. Benitez scored the vital goal after the Albicelestes missed gilt edged chances and hit the post to wrap the game up. It all means with Brazil beating Columbia that in order to qualify for Egypt, Argentina must beat Colombia and Uruguay beat Venuzuela or tie with them. Could Uruguay field a weak side in order to get a huge potential threat this summer eliminated ? In any case the team has only itself to blame allied to poor selections , missing players and the coach. Batista needs to be removed. Bring back Tocalli ASAP. The Olympic sucess was narrow too with that result against Holland.

Lol, Grondona has been AFA President for longer than I have been alive. I'm sure he's Davros in disguise. The man is a creep. They got rid of Santiago Risler at the UAR but no one wants to stand up to him . When he passes on his sons will take over the firm so to speak.
