vs Sheffield Wednesday.
Apologies for the delay if you wanted to know what happened. Mind you, there's hardly anything worth writing about with regards to the actual match. The guy on TWTD's article on "Bored Games" is generally what is happening down at Portman Road. I'd recommend you read it.
I don't know how many of you have heard of this Section 6 initiative. It's an idea to get a load of Town fans in a corner of the North Stand, which is not that well used (Section 6, in other words), in order to sing all game and create an atmosphere. Saturday was the trial. I sit the other end of the ground, and, unfortunately I didn't really hear much from it, but, in theory, it seems a good idea.
It's a shame that the away fans are situated down the other end of the ground next to a stand that contains small kids and their parents. Sitting opposite the away fans, I've seen away fans desperately trying to get the South Stand to react, only to be greeted with puzzled faces. If it's really quiet, you can probably hear the "shushes" of the wanna-be librarians. It's been like that for a long time, and it's not going to change any time soon.
It's a shame that the stuff on the pitch isn't great. Maybe that'd fire us up a little. Everyone is inconsistent, our strikers have more bad/lazy days than good days. Walters is put upfront one week, right wing the next, left wing the week after, because everyone's hoping that he can replicate the form he showed last season. It's not happened. He's been inconsistent. Our back row, inconsistent. Now Campo's out injured when he and McAuley were forming a decent partnership.
The only decent game that stands out for me at Portman Road this season was against Reading, where we played well, and got the three points we deserved. That was back in September.
Where's the excitement, the creativity, the passion, the consistency? More importantly, where are we going to get them all from?
The most entertaining thing about Saturday was probably seeing how the Sheffield Wednesday fan who had his shirt off was going to cope with the freezing temperatures.
Sums up how the season's been for me so far, really.
