Ipswich Town have decided against signing Darren Ambrose who has now returned to Charlton after his loan deal expired – however, they are interested in making a bid for young striker Andy Carroll from Newcastle and possibly even ex-Ipswich defender Hermann Hreidarsson from Portsmouth. www.clubfanzine.com/ipswich_town/

Town Chasing Stockport Pair?Ipswich Town are interested in Stockport County goalkeeper Owain Fôn Williams and are also keeping an eye on the League One side’s left-back Jimmy McNulty, according to one of this morning's tabloids. Welsh U21 international Williams joined County from Crewe in the summer have failed to make a senior appearance for the Railwaymen. The 21-year-old has been a regular for County this season. The 6ft 4in tall stopper has also been capped at U19 and U17 levels by Wales. Town could be on the look-out for another keeper during January with Shane Supple, who is out of contract at the end of the season, expected to go out on loan. Liverpool-born left-back McNulty moved to Edgeley Park last January from Macclesfield Town. The 23-year-old had been at Moss Rose since 2006, having previously spent two years with Caernarfon Town. Between 2003 and 2004 the 6ft 2in tall defender was with Wrexham, during which time he went on loan to Bangor City. As a youngster, McNulty started with Liverpool’s academy but subsequently moved on to Everton’s youth set-up. Also able to play at centre-half, McNulty has been capped by Scotland at U17, U19 and U21 levels.

I think Simeon Jackson is about the best looking prospect so far

How about Dean Windass or Leroy Lita? They've both been mentioned in connection with us by today's press!!
Christ, Dean Windass, how much worse can things get? But I'd be happy with Lita – and that would certainly piss off our Budgie neighbours which would be an added bonus. ;D ;D ;D

i still think Ambrose for £250,000 would have been a very good option - absolutely no idea why we didn't persue that
he's better on the right tho - i guess that could be y !? seems silly tho
LM BADLY NEEDED !

Because Ambrose didn't really do enough to justify a permanent transfer? Shame, as i've met him a few times and he's a decent bloke

he was played left wing when he's more a right wing actually passes n crosses the ball / has a go at beating his man and sticks to his position
and actually had some good efforts on goal, unlucky not to score i heard
wudda come good aswell, if given time.
for £250.000 , very poor judgement by the management
anyway its been and gone ( sadly ) - left wing solution ?
or with us being 8 points off the play offs, is it a case of spend under the new manager in the summer ( id say its increasingly doubtful magilton will be in charge next time out )

Town are close to signing Luciano Civelli, for a reported £1million. This will see us own 50% of the players rights, with the other 50% remaining with his club, Club Banfield. He has recently been linked with AEK Athens, and is the brother of Renato, the Olympique Marseille sweeper. Civelli is able to play LB & LM.
Could this perhaps be the reason we didn't sign Ambrose?

Good range of pass and usually sits in the left of midfield alongside Bertolo for Banfield with Bertolo the one that usually goes into the box.
Creates plenty of chances. Bit slight and I guess might take some time to adapt to the pace of the Championship.
He has even played when required at left back and has some potential.
