ricky is a proud fighter and rightly wants the chance to avenge his only defeat but i seriously doubt that mayweather would end his ring exile to face ricky again...the only fighter i can see mayweather being tempted by is manny pacquiao and after the way the pacman destroyed de la hoya its a fight id pay to see

i liked him alot before that POG Mate. him puttign the united top was just the cherry on the cake No doubt he is one of the greatest boxers ever, but his attitude and general cockyness does not make him popular even among his own countrymen. Walking along, singing a song, walking in a Ricky Hatton Wonderland!!!"

Walking along, singing a song, walking in a Ricky Hatton Wonderland!!!" you are telling me if you were unbeaten in 39 matches(40 if oyu count the big show), you will not be cocky? I think you're missing the point there mate. He's a mouthy twat. Yes, he has undoubted talent, but there is winning and there is winning with class...and thats something that he has little of. His boxing ability is not in question, we all know what a great fighter the man is - however, his general attitude has not endeavoured him to the majority of boxing fans over the years at all, to put it mildly. Fair enough, he's shown he can walk the walk aswell as talk the talk, but even people from his hometown wanted him to lose against Hatton this time last year. He did go up a bit in my book after his comments about Hatton after their fight though.

Hatton eyes dream send offExclusive by James Robson 18/12/2008 RICKY Hatton wants to end his career in a blaze of glory by beating the two best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. The Hyde Hitman plans to fight both Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jnr in 2009 before retiring from boxing. The 30-year-old is close to agreeing a bout with Philippines star Pacquiao in May or June next year, and should he win, it would set him up for a glorious finale to his career against Mayweather, who inflicted a first professional defeat on Hatton last December. Mayweather has let it be known he wants Hatton to be his first fight after deciding to step out of retirement. But IBO light-welterweight champion Hatton is ready to risk missing out on a re-match to fight man-of-the-moment Pacquiao. It could be a massive gamble by Hatton, who expects to bring the curtain down on his career next year. He has made no secret of the fact that he is desperate to avenge his 10th-round defeat to Mayweather and may lose the chance for good if he fails to beat Pacquiao. But the Pac-man is his preferred option right now, with the Filipino generally accepted as the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet following his destruction of Oscar De La Hoya earlier this month. Hatton's father and manager, Ray said: “We want Manny Pacquiao. He wants to fight Ricky and Ricky wants to fight him. It is nearly done. “Mayweather has thrown his hat into the ring, but realistically, if it was a choice between Manny and Mayweather, it would be Manny. “He is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world and he is a closer weight to Ricky. It would be nice for the winner to fight Mayweather and it would be nice if the winner was Ricky.” News that Mayweather, who was regarded as the best in the world before he retired, wants to fight Hatton comes after fears that the Pretty Boy was ready to hijack the Pacquiao clash. After earlier stating that Pacquiao wanted to face Mayweather, his coach Freddie Roach then claimed Hatton would be his ideal opponent. “I think the world would love to see that and Manny always wants to give the world what it wants,” said Roach. Should Hatton's plans come to fruition it would represent a dream end to his glittering career. Following defeat to Mayweather last year and his laboured victory over Juan Lazcano in May, question marks were raised about his future. But an impressive win against Paulie Malignaggi last month was the perfect riposte and evidence that he remains one of the biggest draws in boxing. “Every light-welterweight in the world wants to fight Hatton,” said his lawyer, Gareth Williams. “We've had approaches from everybody. We've also had approaches from people at 130lbs – Juan Manuel Marquez and Juan Diaz both want to fight him. He is a massive draw and can fight where he wants. “But the fight we want to make, our preference, is Manny Pacquiao because we think that is a great fight.” linkification

mayweather proved in beating hatton just what a brilliant boxer he is,his attitude cocky big headed antics outside the ring often make you forget just how good a fighter he is. A rematch at lightwelter with mayweather senior in rickys corner would be an intresting fight
