Sod you lot, then! Superb fight so far; been three rounds of nothing but action. Gave the first and third to Froch, second to Pascal. Here's hoping for more!

One of the best boxing matches i have seen in ages Agreed - certainly the best I've seen since Katsidis vs Earl. Absolute cracker of a match. Congratulations to Froch - he boxed, he brawled, he showed a chin of granite and a warrior's heart. A truly deserving champion

Brilliant fight! They stood toe to toe and just let rip for the first 4 or 5 rounds, and after that Froch took control!
He always looked like taking a few shots, but he took every punch in his stride and kept coming forwards!
derserving winner, just a pity he couldnt finish Pascal off.

Absolutely cracking fight. Thought Froch just about edged it, although was surprised at the margins on the scorecards. I'm torn on whether I'd want to see rematch. On one hand, if it could live up to last night's, then it would be excellent. On the other hand, there'd be too much hype after yesterday and it runs too high a risk of being a more cagey and disappointing affair.
One final thing I'd mention is Froch still calling out Calzaghe. Not for me. Froch's defence needs some work doing and I reckon Calzaghe would be too fast for him. He avoided Kessler pretty well and took some bombs, so I don't think Froch would be able to take him out.

I'm still stunned at how punishment both fighters were able to take, with Froch especially barely flinching. Pascal deserves a lot of credit for his part though; it's clear why he was undefeated before that fight! I made it Froch winning by four rounds, so I was surprised one of the judges gave it 118-110.
Have to agree re: Calzaghe too. Calzaghe's in the 'superfight' league now, so Froch's gonna have to get a few defences against quality opposition under his belt first. There's no way Calzaghe would stop him, but as Pete said, Froch probably wouldn't stop Calzaghe either. From there, the fight will almost certainly go Joe's way purely on work rate, short of Froch pulling out an absolute blinder.
Rather than going for Calzaghe's legacy, I think Froch needs to build his own now. He's got a mandatory against Jermaine Taylor, which would be as good a start as any - if he can go to the US and put on the same sort of performance, he'll have global recognition near enough instantly. After that, I'd like to see him fight Kessler - from a fan's POV, that should be utterly awesome! (Though I'll concede there are 'more intelligent' fights for Froch to take first...)

granted froch is good but calling out calzaghe who in terms of class power and boxing ability is argubaly britains greatest ever fighter is laughable. ;D ;D joe has already said" froch would struggle to beat mikkel kessler"......
