Songs:
Top 5 was too hard so I've done 10 - not in order!
Disturbia - Rihanna. Love Lockdown - Kanye West. Night Terror- Laura Marling. Sex On Fire - Kings of Leon. Mykonos - Fleet Foxes. Cape Canaveral - Conor Oberst Grounds for Divorce - Elbow Standing Next To Me - The Last Shadow Puppets. If You'd Seen A Battlefield - YouthMovies. Roll Away Your Stone - Mumford & Sons.
Albums:
Again 5 wasn't enough, and again they're not in any order.
The Age of The Understatement - The Last Shadow Puppets. Alas, I Cannot Swim - Laura Marling. Only By The Night - Kings of Leon. Sun Giant - Fleet Foxes. For Emma, Forever Ago - Bon Iver. Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends - Coldplay Seldom Seen Kid - Elbow. The Stand Ins - Okkervil River. Good Nature - YouthMovies. Conor Oberst - Conor Oberst
Gigs:
I've been to quite a lot of gigs this year, but some were a bit samey and didn't inspire me in any way at all. So my top 5 are gigs that meant something to me or completely took me over with their beauty and reminded me just why and how much I adore music.
In chronological order:
Sebastian Tellier - Kontraskjæret Festival - Norway - 3rd July. Picture the scene: Fjord, Sun at 10pm, Harbour, boats, pier, ice cream. I was sat at the end of a pier eating ice cream with my friends in Oslo. It was 10pm but it was still light, a really pink sunset. This festival was happening on a hill not to far away from us. It wasn't neccasarily who was playing, but the scene itself was amazing.
Spokes - Packhorse, Leeds - 27th September. Sleeping Dog - Packhorse, Leeds - 27th September.
YouthMovies - Cockpit, Leeds - 15th November.
Jeniferever - Brudenell Social Club, Leeds - 11th December.
iLiKETRAiNS - Brudenell Social Club, Leeds - 11th December.

Being old and washed up, encumbered with two children and off the scene totally, I saw one whole gig this year - Bily Bragg at Exeter Uni. It was excellent, and therefore by far the best gig I have seen this year

Wanted to get my Mum it for Christmas but can't seem to find it anywhere!) The first two singles are better though......it's like having a more credible Kim Wilde back in the fray! ;D Doesn't appear to be any release of 'Hannibal Brooks' commercially available. Even the less convential private traders on the likes of Amazon and eBay don't have any copies, UK release or otherwise.
