A great player and some good ideas on underage players and quota limits but allowing Eurocrats to take over British sporting bodies decisions particularly aimed at football is a disgrace.
The current bunch of incompetent incumbents aided by the loony Liberals passed through the Lisbon Treaty without a referendum and one of its adjuncts is to allow a more centralised control of sporting organizations.
Sarkozy has more pressing problems in France with a rise in radical Islam, collapsing economy etc than interfere with the British game.
And the same for Platini .Double standards regarding indebtedness , finance and the like considering he played for Juventus bankrolled by FIAT to a near monopoly over serie A when Italian clubs dominated Europe.
Ligue Une is so level Lyon win it virtually every year.
They have absolutely no right to interfere or make decisions for British sport in general. Its part of an ever increasing plan to centralise everything for the United States Of Europe.
All it results in is more bureaucracy and inefficiency with decisions made by people who have little experience of sports adminstration.
Martin Samuels article illustrates the hypocrisy beign displayed by Platini and the buffoon Sarkozy whose latest idea is a Common Immigration Policy for Europe. Apparently we don't take enough illegals as it is.
In the wake of the Common Agriculture Policy (a great sucess all round) perhaps someone would be kind enough to do away with him.
The threat is if we refuse to tow the line we can forget hosting the World Cup in 2018 with Spain or the Benelux countries being favoured.
