As expected, it was freezing down at Portman Road. I can understand why the North Stand wanted to remain standing, the seats were bitterly cold... Anywho, enough about the weather and such like, onto the match!
20 minutes into the match, it was already better than the entire 90 minutes up at Donny last week. Jim saw sense and didn't start with Lisbie, and gave Ambrose a start on the left, with Walters and Pablo up front. The midfield was good, Shumi and especially Garvan, were strong and positioned themselves well. Norris, as he seems to be doing recently, had another good game, but limped off with a dead leg (said Jim). Hopefully he'll be alright for Birmingham on Tuesday.
Pleased that Counago and Walters scored. Walters was left unmarked as the ball sliced through the Derby defence. Our defence was good, a couple of hairy moments though, with the dreaded passing back being dodgy once or twice. Still, a clean sheet again. Mind you, Richard Wright didn't have much to do, as the majority of Derby's shots flew over the bar... Just a mention to Emanuel Villa's awful and obvious dive! Naylor tackled him, Villa ran for 2 metres, and then threw himself down. Naylor got booked, which was greeted by boos from us. The atmosphere was once again poor though. Second half, there were some attempts to get some songs going. Derby fans were alright, until we scored our second, then they began to disappear down into the Cobbold Stand...
Let's hope for a good performance against Birmingham. They're doing OK, so we should be alright.
