After his performance against roy jones which took his record to an amazing 46-0 is it the right time for joe to retire??? i have mixed thoughts part off me wants to see him walk away healthy undefeated and argubaly britains greatest ever fighter but part of me thinks he can go on and beat rocky marcianos all time rerord of 49-0 ..

There's not really anyone left for him to fight. Besides which, a swansong in Wales would be nice, but let's be realistic - how greats greats took just one fight too many? And then one more, then just one more, then one more...?
Stop now, Joe. You've got the money and the glory, and anyone who still doubts your ability will never be won over now. You're not punch-drunk; keep it that way, and enjoy the rest of your years with your family properly.

I'd also like to see him break Marciano's record, but there is really no one of note left in his weight category to fight. He's done it all and can now retire a proud man. He'll still be involved in the game though, as he already has his own promotion company as he looks to progress with that..

I think he may as well retire. Sounds like Chad Dawson wants to face him, but then should Calzaghe win, Dawson will be promptly dismissed as another bum by Joe's critics. There's always gonna be one more fighter who people want him to face, but I think he should hand over his crown to the next generation and retire at the top of his game.

should Calzaghe win, Dawson will be promptly dismissed as another bum by Joe's critics. Exactly - there's nothing he can prove now; if you're not persuaded yet, you never will be. Mayweather's the only name worth fighting now, but being 30lb apart it's probably not gonna happen!

Pavlik's a no-go now, after his last fight, and you've already said why dawson's a waste of effort. Mayweather wouldn't happen, and I can't see DLH or Haye being real options either.
Just throw in the towel, son ;D

In defence of the Pavlik comment, that blog was written in May, so was while Pavlik was still being touted as the next big thing (and still could be....losing to Hopkins 10lb above your regular fighting weight is hardly a disgrace). It's the suggestions of Mayweather, DLH and Haye that amused me. ;D
