Is anyone interested ?
I don't see whythey bother. Just give it up acknowledge union will win out and keep it to a Tri-Nations if you want too rather than this ridiculous farrago.
Half the teams are populated by Ozzies or Englishmen and bizarrely players like Fa'asavalu a Samoan are turning out for England (get back into the Samoan union team mate they could do with you).
Ireland (I use the term loosely) beat Tonga to face Fiji in a right to decide off the final semi-final spot.
England, Oz, NZ all had to win one game just to make the semis. Surely no one can take this seriously as a WC.Even league die hards. Surely ?
Russia have scrapped their league programme all in favou of union and there are more and more RL players from Oz taking up union .
How much longer can the charade of league as a global sort be maintained >
Union all the way. 185 nations playing it and the standard improving globally all the time , with firm roots set down in India and China too.

Russia have scrapped their league programme all in favou of union and there are more and more RL players from Oz taking up union . where the hell do you get your info from? if you'd done your research properly you'd have found out that it was Georgia that scrapped their league program after being banned from playing the sport for 2-3 years. and its all for the money why people are moving to union, Sonny Bill Williams (NZ, not an aussie by the way) wanted to return to the NRL after just one game cos he found it so sterile in the french rugby. you just have to look at the attendances of the Super League and the Guinness Premiership to know which is the more popular as for foreigners in the national side here's 2 for you; Magnus Lund and Mike Catt and a hell of a lot of people are interested in this competition myself included so dont spread your opinionated shite on here like you normally do

Opininated ? Why not all we should hold the one view Goebbels ? Fact is Kalmadinov has withdrawn all his financial support for th league game and switched it into union with the aim of getting Russia to the next RWC (a proper world cup). Not shite, fact. Kazan Arrows junior set up is switching to union too. St.Petersburg had ended as a club so five clubs barely afloat is hardly top flight stuff. Teams who'd be hard pressed to beat an amateur outfit from the East Riding. Gasnier has gone across and there will be more after ths charade is over. www.livenews.com.au/Articles/2008/10/23/Ewen_McKenzie_Managers_at_the_heart_of_NRL_player_drainYou can lock yourself away from the reality (as I've noticed a fair few league die hards do) but union already the dominant game will stay as such with league little more than a sideshow on the global stage apart from its old strongholds. Hemel Stags the nearest local team barely get a paragraph in the local paper whilst local union sides Tabard , Old Fullerians and the like get half a page or more.

you havent got a clue have you...... how else do you expect teams to improve without these kind of competitions how does a country expect to host a world cup when it hasnt even appeared in one just cos im interested in the world cup of a sport i love and have always loved and not listening to what you think doesnt make me Goebbels (i dont even know what you were trying to say with that 1st sentence as it made no sense.....fascist propaganda maybe ) get over yourself.....you write these massive articles that must take enough time up which could probably be better spent attending to other matters in your life and you say that i'm locked away from reality?

I like watching both codes of rugby. Admittedly, Union is my preferred one, although, I've nothing against League. However, I do feel the format of the World Cup is a bit of a joke. It seems completely unfair on PNG to be dropped in a group with the three heavyweights of the code, who pretty much qualify automatically for the semis, and then six other countries are forced to battle it out for the one final berth.
The tournament could have been formatted better, but it would be a shame to see a sport eradicated completely, and thankfully it's not gonna happen.
One final point. Ovechkin, you mention your local league team barely getting a mention when the local union ones get excellent coverage. There does happen to be a North-South divide in codes here and I'm sure it's the league teams that get the local coverage on the other side of the Midlands to you.

was a good semi final between Eng and NZ, but we made far too many mistakes and were deservedly beaten.
