The commentators think this could still be a contest... I think they've been at the rum... The answer, dear Jack, is simple: To drown our sorrows!

I hate this kind of competition, it's all about the money and makes a mockery of cricket. The fact that the billboards are plastered in lines about it being 'all about the money' just makes you sick. The whole 'event' is a complete farce and people like Stanford should invest his money in the grassroots of cricket to ensure that it becomes more popular. Not throwing $20m at one game and 'doing a Chelsea'.

It's going to be a long winter if they play like that in India.

What a farce! Pieterson made a mockery of the whole thing with his comments, the side didnt look bothered and the whole week was a joke.
As Boycott would say "It's just not Cricket"

The whole 'event' is a complete farce and people like Stanford should invest his money in the grassroots of cricket to ensure that it becomes more popular. Not throwing $20m at one game and 'doing a Chelsea'. Agreed. What Sir Geoffrey said is right as usual. Why is this man not the head of the ECB ? Too much blunt & truthful Yorkshire speech . Stanford is in it for himself in a sense of self aggrandizement. In an interview with Aggers he himself said he cannot stand Test cricket. That money would be better spent in helping the WICB build new facilities, offer scholarships and improved salaries to stop Caribbean youth gravitating to American sports, not lining the pockets ofa few players in a hopefully one off jolly. Now the three southern unions NZ,SA and Australia seem intent on a city wide 20/20 ie Johannesburg Jigglers v Auckland Arses etc etc. When will this 20/20 madness stop ? There is a place for it but not to the detriment to the pinnacle of the sport.
