decided i may aswell contribute, as i went
not a bad point in the end from my perspective. Battled back from a goal down away from home, and kept going. Fair result too Dudette ! i think anyway !
lets start from the beginning i guess ( as u shud ! )
arrived at nottingham for 6.10. Pleased to arrive, as my cars been proving problematical of late ( its being serviced as we speak ! )
decision number 1 - food ! went 2 a chip shop ( which escapes my memory ) but BOY was the food nice ! 10/10 ! best chip shop in the world, with huge queue after we'd been to boot !
got SUCH a large quantity for pittance !
anyway, as per usual, i digress !
got into the ground at about 7.20. Heard a few chants from our fans ( not a bad turnout for a tuesday night away game, considering the geography ) i reckon !
i put £1 on 3-1 ipswich, walters LAST scorer for 80-1 ( uve got to shove £1 on something ! ) ,,,, my mate picking 2-0 stead first scorer.
Onto the line-ups, i had fun laughing at Will with his bet hanging by a threat, with Stead being named sub. From an Ipswich perspective tho, 4-5-1 with Counago the lone ranger worried me somewhat !
Will kept getting excited when he found out Paul Anderson was in the Forest line up, ( he's a liverpool fan ) ... and was going on and on about how good he's meant to be. Which worried me, as useful wingers always cause our backline chaos !
Onto the game itself.... First thing i noticed was how FLAT the atmosphere was for the first 10 minutes ! I would have hoped Forest would have been trying 2 lift their side considering their current predicament ! ( Mull of Kintyre was fun tho ! )
Forest started the better side. We had our usual possession, but these days tends to be quite tentative, dont have the tempo that used to make our passing game an absolute joy to watch. Forest were much more incisive, and crisper with their interchanges. Early on, they had a goal dissallowed ( did look offside ... )
Out of the blue, Walters absolutely TWATTED the crossbar with a thunderbolt from miles out - who else COULD do that for us ? he really is head and shoulders above the rest of our squad.
Shortly after tho, Forest were 1-0 up from a speculative shot from the edge of the box ( Will thinks it took a deflection on the way through ! ) Couldn't argue too much with the score to be honest !
Did enjoy our fans singing " going down going down",,, " thats y ur going down " ,,,,, " and DO DO DO,, football in a library "
anyway ! First half Forest were playing rather well, with many in the stand fearing for the worst for Ipswich. Now,,, for once ! i was a lot more optimistic. At Watford , 1-0 up half time i could see us chucking it away. If we could GET to half time, only 1-0 down i really believed we'd get a point or maybe win ! Sometimes u can see it coming.
This was confirmed from my perspective, when Forest had a second goal disallowed shortly before half time. Paul Anderson ( who was pissing all over us ) sent in a delicious ball from their right wing, that was nodded in by,,, ( cant think ! ) I looked over, and to my delight the linesman had his flag up ! Not sure they made the right call, but i'll take it ! need to see it again ( Wenger !! )
Was that the luck we needed...?
Now half time quickly came and went. V annoyed no changes were made, we were clueless slow Ipswich for the majority of that half.
Shortly into the second half, we had a lifeline when Quinn went down ( i thought somewhat dramatically ) from a challenge, from Paul Anderson ! HA - AV that my liverpool friend !!!
Now i was not at all impressed with Quinn for flying over, and to be honest initial view i thought " GET UP "
anyway the ref gave it, and thank god mr penalty himself Tommy Miller picked the ball up. Now he's NEVER missed a penalty, which i pointed out to loads of fans. I think its something like 33 / 33 ?
its ridiculous, so i kept saying " Miller will score he's never missed !!!) A lot thought id cursed it, ad i foook ! Bang !!!! now thats one thing Miller CAN do !!!
Instantly, the goal transformed us, and we had a very very good 15 / 20 minutes after. Our tempo was quicker, confidence far greater. Infact the first 7 minutes before the goal, Garvan/ everyone were flying in, getting the 2nd ball.
on the 60 minute mark, Lisbie ( me and my 3 friends played a game, of how many times he'd get caught offside for the remainder of the game ) for Counago. Still 4-5-1. Sigh...
Rest of the game, a bit of a blur !
I think Forest had a cracking chance to win it 2nd half from a corner, and that was an escape. Actually also Wright made a very good 1 v 1 save too i think !
Read Magiltons thoughts, and to say our passing was superb is utter tosh ! It was a much better away display than the 07/08 season ( make no mistake we would have lost that ) but we have a long way to go in my eyes.
I was annoyed that NO Campo, and NO Norris. I really feel Norris could have made a big difference in this game, think he's gonna come good for us !
McAuely had a handy game i thought ( about time !! ) spose he's Ex Leicester so fired up for Forest !!
Walters was his usual fantastic self.
Richy Wright looked more solid too.
Still,,,, left wing was a disaster again, and i do not blame Quinn one bit. We badly need an outlet there, why we didn't sign someone in the summer is beyond me ( Paul Anderson would have been brilliant for US last night ! )
Also, some of our passing at the back at times can be very close to suicidle ! really must be addressed !!!!
Hope for Better at Plymouth, think a point could be coming our way perhaps....
