ENGLAND Under-21 boss Stuart Pearce believes Adam Lallana offers something that very few others in the country can. Pearce has selected Saints’ 20-year-old starlet in his squad to face Wales in a two-legged European Championship qualifying play-off this month. The England boss said he had been incredibly impressed with Lallana’s performances this season and he was fully deserving of a first cap. “He broke in at the end of last season and Nigel Pearson was very pleased with him,” he said. “This season I’ve seen them play two or three times and other scouts have picked them up and he has been the one who has permanently, in feedback to me, been doing extremely well.” Pearce said the role Lallana fills in Saints’ system, just behind the striker, could be of great benefit to his England side. “He has been playing in a position just off the striker, which at international level sometimes causes us problems,” he said.

Quite clearly this was over the line from Lallana, given to McGoldrick though.
