A 5 hour coach trip with a stinking cold is never something you wish for. The journey up there was abysmal, we managed to get into the ground at about 2:30!
The match started off frantically, with chances for both sides. Sheffield Wednesday had the better of them, hitting the bar and firing wide (also Wright made a good save).
We started off 4-4-2, soon switched to 4-5-1 with Walters on the right wing, Norris went in the middle, and Quinn was on the left. We improved. Stead didn't have the best of games, in fact, when Lisbie replaced him, Lisbie touched the ball more times in five minutes than Stead had all match.
Norris was really unlucky, hitting the underside of the crossbar after a very good run through the Wednesday defence. Us travelling fans were stood in disbelief, it looked destined for the back of the net. (Edit: Watched Goals on Sunday this morning, Wednesday keeper made a good fingertip save.)
David Wright did well, again. Naylor and McAuley did OK. Ish. Some of their passing was very astray, and McAuley provided a few nervy moments.
Garvan didn't have a good game, almost each time we lost the ball it was down to him. I don't know why he didn't come off - he may've scored on Tuesday, but he didn't look like doing it again yesterday. Quinn coped well, but fired wide twice. Shumi had a go, but it got blocked.
The attendance wasn't very good, with many empty seats in the stand opposite us and around us. I was surprised that we took a few fans as well, I'd say about 7-800. However, the atmosphere was pretty poor, until Franny Jeffers came on! "There's only one greedy bastard!" ;d
And another plus point, it's the third clean sheet of the season and the second on the road. How many times did that happen last season on the road?
