KEVIN KEEGAN could make an amazing return as Newcastle manager. The Geordie idol was today locked in secret talks with Toon owner Mike Ashley as they try to thrash out their differences.
It is the first time the pair have been together in the same building since Keegan quit in fury at the way the board - and, in particular, executive director Dennis Wise - were interfering in transfers and team selection.
Keegan resigned last Thursday, saying: "It's my opinion that a manager must have the right to manage and that clubs should not impose upon any manager any player that he does not want."
The club have yet to make any attempt to replace him, despite rumours linking them with Gus Poyet, Didier Deschamps and Paul Ince.
