Jen, Albarn was a self-confessed arse during the Britpop era, the battle of the bands etc turned him into a comedy mockney who functioned as a 'rent-a-quote' type of bloke. But then again, he realised his mistake and returned with 'Blur'..........what a record! I can also remember him reacting to the first play of 'Roll With It' on Radio 1. He mockingly referred to Oasis as the new Status Quo, turfing out the same old stuff. I think he might've had a point. Haha, however much I love Oasis, having heard their latest song, I'm inclined to agree! I gave up on Oasis a long time ago, though looking through the NME I see they've been awarded 'Single Of The Week' and the album has been described as being "finally a return to their great days".......I really hope they're right, but this being the NME - essentially the publication that invented the term 'hyperbole' - I think I'll reserve judgement!

I did that a few weeks ago when the Kaiser Chiefs gig at Elland Road was on the front page. It mentioned Leeds United in it so I read it! It was actually quite nice about us! I prefer not to read music magazines.

I tend to avoid them too for the most part, the reviews in particular tell you nothing whatsoever, they merely seem to act as a vehicle for the writer to show off their musical knowledge and ability for alliteration. Mojo's giving away CDs that cover The Beatles' White Album over the next two months though, so you have to make an exception every now and then.

Yeah, I prefer to make my own mind up about music and not have some arty-farty pretentious reviewer ram a shit band down my throat. I do like free CDs though

Tom, what can I say? I really didn't expect anything else! I do like a lot of indie though, and used to listen to a lot of now forgotten bands in the mid 90's in tandem with my usual 'metal' bands. - my collection contains James, early Oasis, Joy Division, New Order, Stone Roses, Black Grape. Just never been a big Blur fan. 'Tender' was a good song, I sometimes have a listen to the likes of 'End of The Century'. But genius? Not compared to a lot out there.
