Did anybody else listen to it yesterday? What were your opinions on it?
I thought it was very poor. I know people used to moan about BBC Radio Suffolk's commentary, but at least they knew what they were doing and didn't mention every 10 minutes 'We're the only station you can listen to all of town's games this season' rather than actually, commentate

SGR is an awful station, and doesn't even reach some areas of Suffolk. I didn't listen, but my mum did as she couldn't make it to the match yesterday, and she thought the commentary was poor too. I think she turned it off because she couldn't stand the man's voice, and also heard the 'We're the only station...' Luckily, Radio Suffolk will cover the away matches. Which is great, and they also have Kevin Beattie covering the post-match views. Which was also great yesterday. Hopefully Town will notice, and listen to the fans, rather than their greed.

I don't think many people like the SGR commentary, someone texted in to ask Radio Suffolk tonight why they didn't have full match commentary. Radio Suffolk had a sly dig.

Firstly, I heard the SGR commentary vs Preston and didn't really have any complaints.
Secondly, I don't think we should be banging on too much about how SGR have filled their first couple of commentaries with "We're the only station you can listen to all of town's games this season" and "...with Mick Stockwell, former Blue". Of course they're going to do that for their first couple of commentaries, because the novelty hasn't worn off yet. They can brag about acquiring the rights for now and keep mentioning it for the benefit of people who have somehow still managed to go without knowing that the commentary has switched. They can also go on about having Stockwell as a pundit to familiarise listeners with their broadcasting team.
We got Setanta Sports Freeview in our house this time last year, one month before they showed their first ever live Premiership game having won the rights, and they made an absolute song and dance about it for the first couple of months. After that, much like the audience, everyone had gotten used to it, so they just got on with it.
And just like Setanta, it'll improve with time and practice on their part.
