Skysports.com understands Norwich are closing in on the signing of Fiorentina striker Arturo Lupoli.
Lupoli is believed to have flown into England to finalise a loan switch to Carrow Road.
The former Arsenal youngster has been made available for loan by Fiorentina and Norwich have stolen a march on their rivals by agreeing a deal with the Italian side.
Canaries boss Glenn Roeder is a big fan of Lupoli and believes he could be a valuable addition to his squad.
Lupoli, who had a successful spell on loan at Derby in 2006, is set to hold talks with Norwich officials and undergo a medical on Tuesday and Norwich are hoping to tie up a move soon.
Meanwhile, Roeder has yet to decide on the future of trialist Stuart Nelson.
Nelson is currently on trial at Norwich after leaving Leyton Orient and he has featured for Roeder's side in pre-season.
"He's been a good lad to have in the group," Roeder told the Norwich Evening News. "He's shown some good qualities in the practices we've had on the training ground.
"He hasn't been worked at all in either game he's played in, so until he gets a much sterner test it will be difficult to make a decision."

Norwich City have confirmed the signing of Fiorentina striker Arturo Lupoli on a season-long loan.
Skysports.com revealed earlier on Tuesday that the former Arsenal youngster was on his way to Carrow Road.
Lupoli has now passed a medical with the Championship club and is looking forward to playing for Glenn Roeder's side.
"I am very happy to be here and hope to contribute for a great season for Norwich City and to be successful," the Italian told the club's official website.
Feels wanted "I spoke to the manager and I really feel that he wants me here.
"I know a lot about Norwich City - I was with Arsenal when they and my team-mate David Bentley were in the Premier League and have followed their progress."
The 21-year-old spent the 2006/07 on loan in the Championship with Derby County and made his debut for the Rams against Norwich.
He scored 11 goals during his time at Pride Park before opting to leave Arsenal last summer to join Fiorentina on a free transfer.

Good signing that - quick and a good finisher but he is very lightweight and if he gets tackled hard early in a game he can go missing. he'll get you goals though! *i have a shirt signed by him as well - nice bloke*
