Darren Currie has joined Chesterfield, just days after agreeing personal terms on a proposed return to Brighton.
The winger, who spent five months with the Seagulls in 2004, was expected to return to the Withdean Stadium from Luton.
But Currie was also negotiating with Chesterfield, and has now put pen to paper on a three-year deal at Saltergate.
Brighton boss Micky Adams is less than impressed by Currie's U-turn, and has accused the player of using the South Coast side to gain improved terms with the Spireites.
Adams said: "He used us as a tool simply to get a better deal for himself at Chesterfield, but while I am disappointed, I'm not that surprised
