I know it's the latest pimped out version from Microsoft...........BUT, I've heard there are some things you'll have to work through. Anyone? Anyone? SDW?

I'm quite tempted, but apart from having fancy new graphics, I'm not sure what other benefits it'll bring to someone who uses their PC for tooling around on here, and creating stuff for work. So if you can explain it to me a bit more in laymans' terms, I'd be happy! Also, can I just get an 'upgrade' package if I have XP?

No.
It's the same as Windows XP, but slower.
Can't speak for BAGD/SDW though...
