The FA are to investigate today's match between Accrington and Bury after a surprisingly large amount of money was bet on Bury.
The Shakers were a 2/1 shot on Friday, but the game kicked off with most bookies having already stopped taking bets and the odds down to 5/6. They won the game 2-0, with Betfair alone taking over £280,000 worth of bets on the match - more than ten times the £20,000 staked on Rochdale's match with Shrewsbury.
One bookmaker told the press: "We saw a weight of money for Bury and from an opening price of 2/1, we had to cut their price throughout Friday to 10/11. The amount of money was unprecedented and unusual. We took the decision to suspend betting on the game on Friday evening."
He added: "For what amounts to a nothing end-of-season game, there was an unusual interest in it. Fortunately, we have not been hit as hard as some."
Bury's 2-0 win was thanks to an Andy Bishop double, the first a penalty after defender Phil Edwards brought down Nicky Adams in the box. Referee Darren Deadman awarded the penalty, booking Edwards for the challenge. Accrington managed 16 shots to Bury's 5, and won nine corners to three.

oh is that theyre on about on the SSN white space.....i keep missing it
the fact that Accrington have been awful all season is an understatement (Sorry Shinny) with a home record that includes summat like 15 defeats its hardly suspect that a lot of people would back Bury.....if something dodgy was going on then it wont have just been the Bury and Accy fans that knew about it....we all would have.
intersting to say the least

Update From Accrington Stanley ... :
Accrington have promised to act swiftly if any of their players or staff were involved in match fixing over yesterday's 'unusual betting patterns' for their game with Bury.

It's mostly Bury from what I've been told by mates at Accy, RUMOUR has it that there is some illegal match fixing going on.
I would have no doubt that we will both be relegated if true

I wouldn't say relegated, i'd say points deduction, just depends on how many ... 15 points would send you down but not Bury ... Surely un-fair ...
Just think it will be a fine myself, if true of course ...

I put some money on a treble including Bury and it's not letting me collect my winnings until it's all sorted... if it isn't I'm guessing I will get diddly.
Ballache!

Or would it ...

If they deduct points and the main event of the fixing was on Bury's end, it would be unfair to have Accy relegated.
If it's next year then it's just compounding the enevitable, and we will be the first team to ever finish on minus points (I'm so looking forward to next season - can you tell)

Accrington boss John Coleman admitted he was forced to change planned team selection following the alleged 'irregular betting patterns' for the Bury game. The players dropped were not named, but the team showed two changes from the one that beat Wrexham the week before.

Wa-La ... How long have i been saying that for, Accrington Stanley as a club will go nowhere with John Coleman in charge, he has taken the club as far as he can now ... If he is held onto for much longer, you will start to drop down even thurther, and with your current state in mind, that would mean, back to Non League Football ...

I've been saying it for about two years... I didn't think he was the man for us when we hired him.
