I feel for you guys I really do. I may feel the same dismay next week but for a club of your stature to be down into league 1 must be heartbreaking.

Very hard to see the fans crying yesterday. But chins up Geo & co. It could be better in the long run. No sympathy at all to the players most of whom are overpaid timewasters. The club needs root & branch reorganzation. Manchester City bounced back as have Forest & soon perhaps Leeds. In the long run you'll be back in division two in no time at all& challenging for promotion to the Premiership I'm sure.

down and out. devestated. Very sorry for you GF. At 1-0 and 2-2 I thought we might just help you out. But then I would have felt just as sorry for Southampton supporters. I don't like to see misfortune to befall any club - even Leeds and Wednesday. Although I could make an exception for West Ham! But the nature of the game is that there have to be losers. We all just hope it isn't going to be us. Relegation is a thoroughly unpleasant feeling that only time, and hopefully something to shout about in the new season, softens. Unfortunately, unless you are one of the favoured half dozen or so in the premiership, it is something that most of us will experience quite a few times in our football supporting lives. I'm up to relegation number 7 so far, and 4 of those have been last day of the season affairs, where we looked pretty well set to stay up. But it's the soul destroying moments like that which make the little highs that we also experience from time to time, all the more enjoyable. On 2nd May 1981, we failed to convert a penalty with only two minutes remaining in the last game of the season. As a consequence, we were relegated to the fourth division. And that was only 6 years after finishing 6th in the top tier, only 4 points behind the champions (Derby) and just one win away from european football. My world felt like it had ended that day. But the following season was one of the most enjoyable that I have ever had. Amongst other things, I really enjoyed going to places that I had never been before. Good luck GF. the footballing wheel of fortune is against you at the moment. But it will turn again in your favour. The only thing that alters in football is the length of the high or low cycles.

Damn, Leicester. Damn. It's a far cry from those games I went to in that incredible League Cup run earlier in the season. How can a team go to Chelsea and score 3 but end the season consigned to League One football? Bizarre. Sad to see it happen to a proud club, it really is. I can't really say I've felt the whole mad ride myself because Ipswich are very much my number one club, but Leicester are still a team I have sympathies for and have been to a lot of games with. If nothing else, I'll find it rather strange looking at a League One ground as I drive home from university each day. That kinda reflects the absurdity of it. In the end, it seems Martin Allen's complete failure to bring in any decent midfielders and the lack of firepower up front has cost Leicester dear. When the fans were chanting Allen's name in the rematch at Forest in protest at his sacking, I shared their feelings at the time, but on reflection, he really didn't bring in the goods, considering the incredible opportunity he was given. Megson... well... there's a man who has basically ensured that he holds the title for Most Unpopular Man in the East Midlands... And as for Holloway, I like the guy - always have done, wanted him at Ipswich before we brought Magilton in - but he seemed to show something of a lack of imagination in the transfer market by bringing in his servants from clubs gone by. Ultimately, it's been that total lack of stability that has done it really. A real shame. It really is. All one can say is that there'll be no other club in League One that can hold a candle to the setup at the Walkers so let's hope that is reflected on the pitch next year. Certainly I can't see anyone at that level turning down a move to Leicester; for some reason I'm already picturing the likes of Colin Larkin in a Leicester shirt, but maybe that's just me. ;D Best of luck next season, Leicester. Ta NCA. I've only missed 1 home game this season and been to a few away ones, so have probably been a bit too emotionally attached to them this season. I was annoyed today seeing everyone smiling and enjoying the sun whilst I felt miserable! Yeah I'll save recriminations for next week. Allen made lots of mistakes and he can certainly be blamed for not taking us up the league a bit. But for relegation I think the buck ultimately stops with Holloway. Still can't decide whether he should go now, but I suppose he'll be gone v soon. He came when we were not in the bottom 3, spent money on transfers and heaps on wages and loan deals and we were relegated with the easiest run in. Lots to look forward to then.

Oh...and Howard & Oakley Thanks Gres. Its not been as bad as I thought it would be. I suppose I have seen it coming for a while, particularly after the Wendies defeat. Haha its all good banter! And I'm sure Stoke will run your record close next season, but it will take some beating! As for Howard and Oakley, sorry, but I hope they are amongst the first out of the door this summer!

hard luck Geo, I wish it had been Coventry and not you. Sure you'll bounce straight back. Cheers COYS. lol I wish it was them too and Gres's description of them is apt! ;D However, the thing that makes this more bearable is that I think we deserve relegation this season, so not too many complaints. 26 dropped points this season to fellow relegation candidates - 8 more than to the top 6! Hmmmm.

Just when we thought we were BAD, you pip us to the post! ;D If its any consolation, my first game at the BBG was in Div. 3 - at least you'll have some novel away games to go to!

Lots of nice messages on here which is good! I avoided the tears, but may not have done had I been at the match. Yes I agree with you about the players, apart from 1 or 2 and the young lads. I watched all but 2 of them disappear down the tunnel after our last home game without so much as an acknowledgement to the supporters and I hoped that I would never see most of them wear the royal blue of Leicester again. Hopefully. Its quite comforting that the clubs who have done better in leagues 1 and 2 last season...Swansea, Forest, Leeds, Doncaster, MK Dons are some of the 'bigger' clubs.

Thanks a lot AB! Yes I thought you might help us out and after I heard Saints were down to 10 men and it was petering out into a draw at Stoke, I was very much hoping you were going to get a late goal. Sadly it wasn't to be, but its by no means your fault, we have deserved it over 46 games. Even on Sunday we played 4-5-1, going for the draw which Holloway hoped would be enough. It wasn't. As much as relegation hurts, I actually think being a yo-yo club like us and you, and many other teams makes it all the more exciting. Its a shame we're yo-yoing this far down but like you say, lots of new grounds to visit....some of them will have terracing, unreserved seating and if we do well then it could be a fun experience. If we do a Forest and spend a few years down there, it will be horrible!
