Northampton have failed in their bid to have striker Scott McGleish's red card against Nottingham Forest overturned. Town had appealed against McGleish's dismissal for violent conduct in Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Sixfields, and had submitted video evidence.
However, the Football Association's disciplinary commission upheld the referee's decision, and McGleish's three-match ban will stand.
He will now miss games against Gillingham, QPR and Bristol City.
"We are very disappointed with the decision," said Cobblers manager John Gorman.
"In our opinion the pictures show that the elbow was down, and the report says he was sent off for using the elbow.
"That was at odds with the Nottingham Forest player needing treatment to his leg."
