Veteran winger Peter Beagrie may be set to hang up his boots after negotiating his release from his Grimsby contract in order to further his media career. Beagrie, who will be 41 next month, has recently struggled with a back injury and made the last of his 10 appearances for the Mariners on 26 September.
"He has been a model professional and everyone at the club wishes Peter well," a club statement read.
Beagrie has made a total of 671 league appearances for 10 different clubs.
Beginning at home town club Middlesbrough, he also played for Sheffield United, Stoke, Everton (two spells), Sunderland, Manchester City, Bradford, Wigan and Scunthorpe before moving to Grimsby in the summer.
