Bristol Rovers 1-0 Grimsby Andy Sandell marked his first league start with the only goal of the game as Bristol Rovers claimed their first points of the season. The winger turned in a low cross from fellow newcomer Ryan Green to give the Pirates a deserved victory.
Grimsby's best chance fell to Michael Reddy early on, but Steve Phillips saved his low shot from eight yards.
Sandell, Junior Agogo, Sammy Igoe and substitute Lewis Haldane all went close for the home side in the second half.
