Not sure if Darlinton have any fans (on this board ;D) but just to let you know you've got a good little player on your hands.
Darlington manager David Hodgson has today agreed a two-year deal to bring defender Patrick Collins to the 96.6TFM Darlington Arena. The deal for the former Sunderland trainee, who has more recently been with Sheffield Wednesday and on loan with Swindon, is subject to a medical on Friday and Patrick is expected to join his Quakers team mates for training on Monday. While the 6ft 3ins 21-year-old is predominantly a centre half, he can play anywhere across the back four.
David Hodgson said: “Patrick has got great pace and, being 6ft 3ins, can command his area very well. He has the ability to play anywhere across the back four and will be a major asset to the club. He is also a North East lad and brings with him the type of spirit I am trying to foster in this football club.”
Patrick moved to Sheffield Wednesday in 2004 after impressing during a trial spell with the Owls. The former Sunderland trainee gained plenty of experience in his first season at senior level with thirty-three appearances at either right back or centre half.
Collins also made a contribution to Sheffield Wednesday's bid for promotion during the 2004/05 campaign after coming on as a substitute in the League One play-off final against Hartlepool. He gained further league experience during a loan spell at Swindon Town in the first half of last season.
