Spurs striker Mido has revealed he is close to signing a one-year loan deal with Birmingham.
The 24-year-old Egypt international had limited opportunities under Martin Jol at White Hart Lane last season and almost signed for Manchester City.
Mido is now further down the pecking order after Spurs signed Darren Bent.
He said: "Both sides have agreed terms. I will move on a one-year loan deal and they could buy my contract if the club survives in the Premier League."
He added: "Birmingham's offer is the best I had received, especially that I chose to stay in England."
Birmingham boss Steve Bruce has also made an enquiry about Mido's Egypt and Spurs team-mate, Hossam Ghaly, as he looks to build on the squad that earned promotion last season.
