Football fans accused of excessive noise Can you really believe this: www.lep.co.uk/north-west-sport/Football-fans-accused-of-39excessive.3522122.jpSouthampton v Blackpool at St Marys. The stewards come up and removed Blackpool's drum because it was making too much noise. How ridiculous. If they didn't want it there, why did they let it in in the first place!? Its not like you could sneak it in. Theres quite a good video of the incident too in the article.

Apparently it was a Blackpool fan that made the complaint. Ahh I see, well they should have told them where to stick their complaint really, its a football ground! It's a confusing debate really, there was a very long discussion on the official saints forum for a week after. To be fair, it did completely ruin the atmosphere, but why let them bring it in the first place

Theres definitely an argument for and against drums at football.
But once they've let it in, then it was stupid to try and remove it because a) there was no real grounds to - its hardly a safety risk or going to cause trouble or anything and b) removing it could have caused some real trouble at the back of the stand. The away fans were never going to be happy.

"I can understand being banned from smoking, drinking and standing up in football stadiums, but being told to keep the noise down is crazy." - spot on that!! I'm surprised it was a blackpool fan who made the complaint - the drummers are at every game for Blackpool - local celebrities!!

this is Leicester's drummer: A rather big fellow, Lee Jobber. He was on an edition of Football's Hardest Away Days.

If you ever come across him, I don't think you're likely to miss him. If apperances create stereotypes I don't think he would live up to his. He's a decent guy. Has some good natured banter with the away fans but he'll bang the drum for them too and apparently he's quite a Mummy's boy!
