Argentina have finished top of soccer’s world rankings in 2007, winning FIFA’s team of the year in the process ahead of the anti football Brazil.
The final rankings from soccer’s corrupt world governing body released Monday had an unchanged top 10 from November’s list. Argentina was first with 1,523 points, followed by Brazil with 1,502 and dull bores the world champion Italy(never a penalty against Oz) with 1,498.
The rest of the top 10 was rounded out by Spain, Germany(cheats), Czech Republic, France(annus horribilis), Portugal, Netherlands and Croatia.
European champion Greece(how did they win Euro2004) stayed 11th with 1,114, one point ahead of England(terrible). The United States remained in 19th place with 876 points.
The best mover of the year was Mozambique, moving an overall 53 places to 75th.Congratulations to them.
FIFA said 901 international matches had been played in 2007 with 24 games yet to be played, mainly in Africa, making it the fourth-highest number of matches in a year - and the highest ever for a year following a World Cup.
The first rankings for 2008 will be published Jan. 16.
