The local papers give credit to Leeds fans after last nights football match saying that most of the action thankfully happened on the pitch although there were nine arrests before and after the match. Offences included invading the pitch, being drunk, breaching a football banning order, and public order. It was no different than any other match apart from the huge police presence in the town the Bournemouth Echo says. By contrast with 1990 the 2000 Leeds fans headed straight home after the match with another 3 points in the bag.
Ridiculous thats all I can say, way over the top - 2000 Leeds fans and probably 800 police. The gate was 8599 but that didn't include the police. I was on my way to Southampton to watch Wolves but the police were everywhere even before I set off around 6pm - I never saw one Leeds fan.
Who's paying for all that policing?? AFC Bournemouth or the local tax payer

I know football clubs have to pay high policing costs - the Wigan chairman had an argument about it with the local constabulary a while back...but he had to pay them what they wanted because if the police weren't there, they wouldn't be allowed to play on safety grounds! I'm sure it probably is paid for in some part by taxes, and the ticket prices aswell of course!
Difficult to say really...you could argue that such a high police presence meant the game went off smoothly...afterall on previous occasions the same match hasn't...and trouble has flared at Leeds' recent games against Millwall and Carlisle.
Its just a sad indictment of the world we live in, where some people only go to games to cause trouble...and people who just want to watch a game will always end up getting caught up in it.
