Millwall look set to beat Port Vale to the signing of Manchester City midfielder Marc Laird - according to Vale manager Lee Sinnott. The 21-year-old recently completed a 10-game loan spell at Vale.
"It has been a battle between us and Millwall, but it looks like he has decided to join them," Sinnott told Vale's website.
"I have had a phone call from his agent, who told men it was 99.9% certain that Marc would join Millwall."
Laird, who was Sinnott's first signing as manager, has not appeared for City's first team, but also had a a loan spell at Northampton in early 2007.

Has there been any news on whether you guys are likely to bid for Brko?
I'd hate to see him go (I can't imagine why Blackwell loaned him out) - has he impressed for you guys at all?

Apparently this Laird geezer is pretty decent. Port Vale fans seem disappointed he has left them.
Would love to sign Brkovic on a perm. He's impressed me a lot. Not a lot of pace but makes up for that due to his fantastic crossing ability

Brkos got a great eye for a pass and hes got goalscoring instincts. Which we need badly as we don't score enough goals.
