Barnsley have handed a trial to Bristol City midfielder Grant Smith.
The much-travelled 26-year-old joined City from Swindon last summer but started only four league games and ended last season on loan at Walsall.
Barnsley boss Andy Ritchie told the club's website: "Grant has joined us this week and will train with the squad for the next couple of days.
"He is still under contract at Bristol City so we will have to see what happens," he added.
