Gillingham 2-1 Huddersfield Strikes from new signing Dean McDonald and Matt Jarvis got Gillingham's new campaign off to a winning start. Gillingham dominated throughout and took a deserved lead when Jarvis raced the length of the pitch to beat Terriers goalkeeper Matt Glennon.
And McDonald doubled the lead from eight yards out after turning neatly to grab his debut goal.
Huddersfield scored a consolation late on as Gary Taylor-Fletcher tapped in Chris Brandon's left-wing cross.
