Rotherham 0-1 Brighton Ten-man Brighton managed to hold on to their lead over a Rotherham side who got off to a poor start as they try to overcome a 10-point league penalty. Alex Revell put the visitors ahead with a right-footed shot after Richard Carpenter's pass out to the left was headed infield by Tony Stokes.
Rotherham fielded eight players making their home debuts and were devoid of attacking ideas.
They rarely looked like levelling even after Brighton's Dean Cox was sent-off.
Cox picked up two yellow cards in quick succession, the first for his part in the celebrations after Revell's goal and the second for a foul on Lee Williamson.
