Guys there's a film called Collateral starting on Channel 4 in about 25 minytes (9PM) watch it if you can. The first 45 minutes of the film are great and for a modern film it really takes film making to another level (I'm not overselling it it's not the best 45 minutes ever on film) but it's great. I kinda identify with Jamie Foxx's charachter and I think you might a bit too, intense, well done, the begining of that film I can watch over and over again, I love the city the way it's set up. I hope you watch it tonight or at sometime. It's not an amazing film because I think the last hour doesn't live up to the first at all but it's worth a watch, I just love the atmosphere that is so rare in modern film. Peace on, enjoy it I'm sure you'll find something to like.

Here just show's you what the film's about a bit more www.imdb.com/title/tt0369339/Read the plot outline near the top. And 7.8/10 is very very good for an IMDB.com rating. This is the best charachter Tom Cruise has ever has the privilage of acting as. Good acting, but Jamie Foxx is the everyman I identify with and most of you will also. Times running out, rent it or some thing if you miss it (or try More4 of Channel4+1 or whatever). You can even miss then ending if you're pushed for time but over all even considering the last 45 minutes it's still a quality film. I love cities at night and this movie turns me on and if it doesn't interest you at all then I'd find that hard to believe. Modern films generally suck at this kind of thing, but from 1-50 minutes it is great cinema.

Exactly my point.
I'm watchingi it for about the 3rd time now and between 5-60 minutes the film is intense and just what attracts me in movies. All in one night, great charachters and actors, everything is great.

Upon recapping and having seen 3/4 of the film now (the last time I saw the film was about 2 years ago) it appears I've sold it short and long at the same time.
It is actually a very good for the vast majority of the film (a slight dip in the last 15 minutes) but other than that it's all great. Not amazing and maybe the fact I just love the setting, Tom Cruise's character and Jamie Foxx who is someone I can really connect with, just a normal guy in a bad situation. I like the fact they take away the cliché of the loudmouth smart ass black character and bring in this down to earth generally good guy.

I quite like 'Collateral', though I'm not that sure that it's vastly different in terms of how it looks to Michael Mann's previous films (Manhunter, and more especially Heat), and 'Miami Vice' that followed it. It's not in the same league as 'Heat' for my money, but it is vastly superior to 'Miami Vice' which absolutely stank!

Agreed, Miami Vice sucked my balls! I've not seen Manhunter though. It's the 'Silence Of The Lambs' prequel he made back in the mid-80's, it was later re-made as 'Red Dragon'. A lot of people rave about it and say that Brian Cox was the best Hannibal Lecter.....I wasn't all that taken by it though. I do recall that the murder spree took place at 'Leeds House', a tidy looking des res owned by the Leeds family. ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)
