Recently, I looked up David Tennant's profile on IMDB (he of Dr Who fame), because I was sure I remembered his face from somewhere before Dr Who. Sure enough, I was right, and after a youtube search, I found his first two TV appearances. His first ever TV role was playing a transexual (pre-op transvestite) barmaid called Davina in Rab C. Nesbit, and he had a role in one episode of The Bill too. Even that young (22-23 in Rab), Tennant showed great acting ability, resisting hamming up or over-playing roles like so many others would (like the entire Nesbit cast : , and when it comes to the final punchline in Nesbit? Priceless. They say good comedy is about the material, and great comedy is about the delivery - he both timed and enunciated the delivery perfectly. He playsd a great baddie in The Bill too - which I wouldn't have expected after his constant cheerfulness in Dr Who! Rab C. Nesbit Part 1 (goes out of sync towards the end) Rab C. Nesbit Part 2The Bill
