Film history is littered with movies that are absolutely, totally and completely without merit. Most should be thrown into a 50 feet hole, which is then promptly filled with concrete. However, some thrive. So bad, so misjudged, so humiliating for all involved are these films, that they can be highly entertaining, just for ALL the wrong reasons. Any suggestions? I'll put forward the first classic.... Truly apalling acting, the tone is horrifically misjudged, and THAT sex scene in the hot tub between Kyle McLachlan and Elizabeth Berkley will stay in my mind forever. Whenever it's on TV, I can't take my eyes off it.

Bad Taste, as fantastic a film as it is, probably fits into this category. The acting is comical, the plot bland, and just about everything about it could be pulled apart by a serious critic... but despite that, it's absolutely fantastic! Another film I'd nominate is Wild Zero. It's a Japanese zombie film, and I can't honestly tell if it's meant to be a parody (if it is, it's fantastic) or if it's just that damn bad. I physically cringed at times watching it, and gawked in disbelief at others, but I've still watched it five times as well as showing it to others, and would happily do it again. To give you an idea of how bad it is, here's one of the characters called 'The Captain' - he's out for revenge on the hero and apparently ignorant of the fact there's flesh-eating zombies all around him: Also, here are some of the heroes: Note also the rather blue zombies in the background

Here's a couple of quotes from a review of Wild Zero that I just found:
"What we’ve really got here is a romantic comedy! But with magical, zombie-killing guitar picks. Oh, and flame-throwing microphones."
"It’s fairly hard to describe Wild Zero without making it sound like both the best movie ever made and the most disorganized, ridiculous vanity project ever conceived. Wild Zero is a schizophrenic mixture of good ole fashioned gut-munching, WB-style romanticism, flying saucer Sci-Fi, and leather clad, sunglass-wearing Rock n’ Roll."

They're cool in their own way, but if anyone else tried to pull it off... nuh uh! Their fire-shooting microphone's cool though ;D

Cry Baby with Johnny Depp. It's a musical but I used to love it even though it was poo!

When one of the guys is trying to hold part of his brain in with his belt strap, while a seagull is trying to feed on it - JUST GENIUS!!! A better film than Brain Dead in my opinion.

Braindead... that's the zombie film where at one point the hero runs through a mob of them with a lawnmower, yes? I must admit, I rather liked that one, but it's another that fits into the 'so bad it's good' category. "I kick ass for the lord!"

Normally I'm completely against calling films 'so bad they're good'. However, I will break this tradition and nominate Boy Eats Girl, an Irish teenage zombie film that wishes it was shaun of the dead. made me laugh in a few places though.
