Seem to recall that Brittany Murphy was the girl who Alicia adopted as her 'project' in the film. She didn't look all that clever in it, but now...... No wonder I like that movie! Didn't say why though did I

Silent Hill: Obiously a remake of the popular computer game, which has become a popular genre recently, but i have to say this is the best of the ones ive seen. Genuinly creepy in places, and a very dark feeling throughout the film. A good watch.
7.5/10

Welcome to the wonderful world of Lynch, Lucas! What's so odd about Taxi Driver, BTW??? Blue Velvet 8/10 good and a little odd, like Taxi Driver.... Thank you, do you know what was up with Dennis Hopper using that breathing mask, I'm not sure if I got that or not? Taxi Driver, you know the way it kinda takes a turn, and he become compasionate when you don't expect him to, a slow burner but not a slow film.

Syriana - Very complex, but an interesting storyline if you can follow it. However it gets preachy in places, and the bottom line appears to be that America will screw anyone over for money and oil - geopolitics for five years olds (see also lord of war). This is worth a watch though, and issuperbly acted. 8/10.

It was meant to be a form of drug cocktail he was inhaling. Lynch decided to have him do so to give an extra edge of menace to the character; as if he needed it!!! Lynch was originally going to have Hopper inhale helium, and give him the resultant high pitched voice when doing so. Now that would've been twisted! Welcome to the wonderful world of Lynch, Lucas! What's so odd about Taxi Driver, BTW??? Thank you, do you know what was up with Dennis Hopper using that breathing mask, I'm not sure if I got that or not? Awakenings
Watched this on 'Five US', of all things. Based on a true story, the film tells the story of a doctor (Robin Williams) who takes a job in a ward that cares for people deemed 'hopeless cases'. However, after a chance discovery during an assessment he becomes convinced that the catatonic patients in his care could be brought back to their conscious selves. Undeterred by the cynicism of his colleagues he quickly makes real progress. Eventually he is granted permission to experiment with drugs on one of the patients; he chooses the wards most hopeless case, Leonard (Robert De Niro). The results amaze everyone, although ultimately prove to be a temporary success.
I'm not a fan of Robin Williams, and don't find him to be a very expressive actor, but he is as good in this as he is in anything I've seen. Den Niro turns in one of his last great performances, while the supporting cast provide strong support; especially Penelope Ann Miller, an actor criminally underused by Hollywood.
Genuinely moving, without being exploitative.
8/10

Bit gay you have to pay to be a proper member though. you only have to pay if you want to be involved with the castings side of it... for those of us not lucky enough to be offered squillions for acting, it's free.

Wyatt Earp. Semi biography of the famous lawmans' life. Just about the closest any film has come to depicting his life and not a bad watch.
