personally i fooking hate adverts now in programmes, if i had the money would pay anything to get rid of them from the channels i watch how about yourselves I completely agree, they ruin films for a start. They subliminally stick the tunes to terrible songs and jingles in your head. Personally I find the Cillit Bang ones most infuriating where that tit called Barry comes on and raves about how it can clean a penny. I'd glady beat him senseless. I think the only possible positive that adverts provide is a brief break in proceedings whilst the F1 is on. They wind me up that much that they stop me from nodding off.

Some adverts, I like - with the right sense of humour or class, they're better than some TV nowadays!
Bear in mind the disgusting amounts of money they generate though - one 30sec slot in the middle of Corrie for 1 week costs about £3m, so we'd have to pay a hell of a lot to be rid of them...
Also, be grateful we don't have it as bad as in America - some channels over there have 15mins of ads every hour (and I've experienced this first-hand while attempting to get to enjoy US football...)

I hate it when films cut for the news at 10 and then they show the last half hour later on. why not put the film on earlier or the news on a bit later

Best way to avoid adverts. Get Sky+, record the show and start watching it 10, 15 minutes late (all depending on how long it is), then fast forward through the ad-breaks. If you FF at 30x speed, it only leaves a gap of a few seconds.
