I was at Old Trafford that day. Got on the bus jubilant that we had won 2-0 only for the sobering tone of the news to dampen our spirits.
Indeed a terrible day fraught with mistakes and tragedy that could, and indeed should have been avoided.

It was totally avoidable mate, and unfortunatley the Liverpool fans don't seem to have learnt their lesson as was highlighted in Europe!

It's a day I'll remember for the rest of my life. My dad bringing crying men in off the street for them to call their family and tell them they were still alive. Gives me shivers to even think about it now.

Gives me shivers to even think about it now. Not knowing the full story as i got home i rang a mate who was in the Forest end to see if he was alright. His missus said he was too upset to talk about it but said he was alright. Come monday morning at work he was still a jibbering wreck. Mustv'e been awful to witness. Derby were among the first to take the fences down and our next home game was against the Owls at home. The Owls fans were really thankful we had taken down the fences and the footy didn't matter.

I was their that day, sneaked in the Forest end. Worst day of my life and something i will always try and block out . I do wish liverpool fans would let it lie though, it doesnt help anyone bringing it all back up. No one will truly know what happend that day. I couldnt believe on my recent trip to Anfield that their is a shop of sorts outside the Shankly gates decided purely to the justice. The abuse that Owls fans still receive from them is appalling. Why? Please let it go, i may not have lost anyone that day but it doesnt mean im not affected by it

Having watched them walk down my parents road pissed out of their heads at 3.05pm maybe they should accept that they have to share some blame.

Liverpool fans should take all the blame! How the fuck have the Wendy's got anything to do with it...........you weren't even playing!
They brought it on themselves by acting like knobs!

There were many factors why it happened. It was tragic and it should be laid to rest now.

There were many factors why it happened. It was tragic and it should be laid to rest now. I agree. Let the dead rest in peace. But I can see a special event next year to mark 20 years. On a slightly sour note though, I remember listening to the second half of Man Utd vs Liverpool and Alan Green said he'd passed a sign on the side of the road where United fans had written blatantly for Liverpool fans to see on their way to the ground: "96......not enough"

R.I.P. I can still remember the whole afternoon very vividly. I put my radio walkman on at Elland Road at half-time to catch the latest scores and at that stage the Radio 2 commentary team were still speculating when the game would restart, but by 4pm the first reports of deaths had broken. I spent the second haf listening to the radio and upadting people around me on the Lowfields Road terrace. I rushed home to watch Grandstand which stayed on air until about 8pm, and at one stage wondered if the death toll was ever going to stop rising. The thoughts of the carpet of flowers on the pitch at Anfield still moves me to this day. I've also got a copy of the book 'The Day Of The Hillsborough Disaster', it's the most upsetting thing I've ever read.
